Heirloom/Blanket Chest

This Blanket Chest was the first one built and was a Christmas gift for my wife.  The one pictured was built from Red Oak for the top, rails and stiles, and legs.  I had to experiment with staining the wood dark so I ended up using a Rosewood stained that was water based.  I also made solid, book matched Cherry.  The bottom shelf is 3/4" Birch Plywood with 1/4" Aromatic Cedar applied to the top side of this shelf.  It's about 20" deep, 44" wide and 22" long.  (12/2002, 12/2003, 3/2004, 10/2004)
