Conference Table
It starts with a run to the Hardwood Lumber mill for Quarter Sawn White Oak (QSWO). Now I need to clean it up.
It took some time, but I did get the boards straight and cleaned up.
Next it was jointing the edges to glue it up. Lots of work with the Hand Jointer.
Finally the glue up, attach the frame, and now I start assembling the pedestals and attach them to the table.
Now that the pedestals are assembled with a frame to fit in the table's frame...
... it's time to mount them to the tabletop for a dry fit.
Now the Apron. I got an idea from a friend of mine in Colorado. On the corners are 8/4 blocks that are rounded over on the outside edge. They are pocket-screwed into the apron and the apron will move with the grain of the tabletop.
When that was all set in, the only thing left at the time was to get the table to stand on its own. Now it's looking great!
Now that the finish is set...
Everything gets 3 coats of poly, it's re-assembled and the top gets an additional 3 coats.
