Fireplace Mantle

This is a first out of the shop.  A custom sized Fireplace Mantle that wraps around a brick front of this recently remodeled fireplace.  It is all constructed from Red Oak and it supported by a French Cleat system made from Poplar.  The box frame was built from 3/4 plywood and the Red Oak wraps around it to conceal the frame.  The same crown molding installed on the fireplace was also installed around brick at the ceiling level to tie it together.  Not easy to work with a brick wall (lots of scribing and got some extra help from friends) but it is installed, it's level, and it looks great.  (10/2006)
