French Style Screen Doors
Here's something new for me. I've been thinking about building doors and this was my first door project. (I pick a doozy, didn't I?) These are French-Style Screen Doors and I stayed true to the design of the original doors at about 95%. I added a center "Lock" rail to keep the doors square and used a Beadlock Loose Tenon system to attach the top rail to the hinge stile. The glass and screen frames are made from wood and can be switched out when the client wants too. These doors face south, so three coats of Farawood Dura-Tough poly sealer to protect the doors. I also stained them to look antique and match (as close as possible) to what the old doors looked like on the inside. 4/2008 |
