Irish Table
So far, the fastest furniture project to date. This table is 29" high and 36" around made from clear yellow pine. The legs are tapered from 1 3/4" to 1" on the insides of the legs. The rails have a 1" tenon that fit into the mortises of the legs, and there are dados to hold the clips to secure the top. The round top was a first for me, but turned out pretty good. The finish is a little different... Sanded to 220 grit, 2# cut shellac to seal the sanding, then 1# cut of Orange Shellac to color it a bit, then a Oil Base Warm Cherry stain. Then it's sealed with 3 coats of an Oil Base Urethane and a wax coat on the top. This was donated to St. Katharine Drexel School for their benefit auction, but I've also completed one for my Mom's Christmas present. (2/2007, 10/2007) |
