English Garden Bench Construction
(Click on the picture below to enlarge.)It starts with the side pieces that is the back leg, front leg, stretcher, and seat support/stretcher. Almost all the parts were cut on the Bandsaw and the tenons were done on the Tablesaw with a Tenoning Jig. The mortises were done with the Dedicated Mortiser. This is the dry-fit. After gluing and setting the dowel pins on the sides, the front and back rails were cut and tenons were formed. Then the backrest was assembled with the two back rails. After that was done, it was assembled, glued and pinned as before. After this was done, it was all downhill! I attached the center seat supports, the seat slats, and sanded it with 120 grit paper so the protective finish would penetrate the wood. After three coats, this was the end result.
